La mala pata de Millán Astray

“Muera la inteligencia“, se dice que gritó este militar coruñés del siglo pasado, interrumpiendo una más que sensata intervención de Don Miguel de Unamuno en la universidad de Salamanca. Pues con esta misma sentencia se podrÃa calificar la desafortunada actuación de los jóvenes que, hace un año, serraron una de las piernas de la estatua que le rinde homenaje en su ciudad natal, y que están a la espera de conocer su condena (un año y nueve meses, pide el implacable fiscal) de un momento a otro. Lean la noticia, aquÃ.
Aún reconociendo que el monumento no es precisamente una obra de arte, y que el homenajeado era un personaje que dejaba bastante que desear, el bobo comportamiento de los autores de ese acto vandálico bien se merece que sea ejemplarmente castigado por la justicia. ¿Quiénes se creen esos mocosos imberbes para tomarse la justicia por sus manos (o sierras)?. Quizá no se esté aplicando la controvertida ley de memoria histórica, pero si todos ejecutásemos por nuestra cuenta y riesgo las normas que no se cumplen, mal podrÃamos convivir en armonÃa. Además, Millán Astray, aparte de vengativo fascista y paradójico psicópata (”viva la muerte“, era otra de sus proclamas), fue también héroe y mutilado (perdió un ojo y un brazo, que no una pierna, gamberros ignorantes) de la guerra de Marruecos de 1920, y el fundador de La Legión, una de las divisiones de élite más prestigiosas de nuestras ya democráticas Fuerzas Armadas. Asà que en función de estos últimos méritos, y de que, queramos o no, nació en A Coruña, creo que bien ganada se tiene su fea y cutre estatua de dos piernas.
