La isla de Santa Cruz

Hoy he acabado mi ruta de reparto en Arillo, un pueblecito coruñés entre las poblaciones de Sta Cruz y Mera. Como eran cerca de las dos de la tarde y un tÃmido sol empezaba a asomarse entre las oscuras nubes que me habÃan acompañado a lo largo de toda mi jornada laboral, decidà interrumpir mi regreso para tomarme un aperitivo en la bien orientada terraza del restaurante Preludio, un clásico de la pujante hostelerÃa de la localidad costera de Santa Cruz. De manera lastimosa, no me habÃa todavÃa acomodado cuando se puso de nuevo a llover, por lo que tuve que resguardarme en el interior del establecimiento, en una mesa estratégicamente orientada hacia el tentador Castillo de Santa Cruz. Naturalmente, no me pude contener, y en cuanto cesó la lluvia, pagué a toda prisa, y me dirigà cámara en mano hacia el puente que conduce a la isla en la que se ubica la citada edificación.
El Castillo de Santa Cruz es una fortaleza construida en el siglo XVI con la misión de defender la bahÃa coruñesa de sus pérfidos invasores, ingleses y piratas, principalmente, y perdonen la redundancia. En A Coruña ciudad habÃa entonces otros dos castillos, el de San Diego (ya desaparecido) y el de San Antón (todavÃa en pie, frente a la ciudad vieja) que compartÃan similares tareas. Posteriormente, éste de la isla de Santa Cruz acabó siendo utilizado como lugar de confinamiento de militares sediciosos hasta que, en el año 2000, su propiedad pasó a manos del ayuntamiento de Oleiros, alojando actualmente una especie de fundación para la conservación de la naturaleza.
Pero independientemente de la azarosa historia de su emblemático monumento, lo que me más fascina de la isla son sus extraordinarias vistas. De frente, la metrópolis coruñesa, con su ajetreado puerto, su moderna torre de control marÃtimo y su famoso faro romano en el horizonte; en el contrario, el turÃstico pero pintoresco pueblo marinero del puerto de Santa Cruz. Y si miramos a los lados, ensenadas, pequeñas playas, abruptas rocas y, por fin, el impresionante mar abierto. ¿Alguien da más?.

aunque te voy a dar el mérito sólo al 50%, el otro se lo lleva el propio paisaje. Parece casi imposible que en ese lugar puedan tomarse fotos feas.
las puestas de sol también son fantásticas!
